Job Introduction

Welcome to an exciting opportunity at our service in the heart of Bedlington! Here, you'll be part of a dedicated team supporting 12 self-contained apartments, providing intensive housing-related support for adults with enduring mental health challenges, autism, learning disabilities, or physical health needs.

As a Support Worker , you will not only transform the lives of those you support but also enrich your own. With tailored training and development opportunities, you’ll be on a path to success—100% of our management team in Northumberland started their journey as support workers!

Important: Experience in the mental health sector is essential. Some of our service users may exhibit challenging behaviors as part of their ongoing recovery, which can include self-harm and emotional instability. Therefore, we seek candidates who possess a deep level of empathy, understanding, and patience.

Shift Patterns: This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is key! You’ll have a variety of shifts available, including waking nights and sleep-ins.

Role Responsibilities

What will I be doing?

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same! Your responsibilities will include:

  • Promoting the independence of the individuals we support
  • Assisting with daily activities such as cleaning, cooking, and outings
  • Organizing engaging activities both at home and in the local community
  • Helping develop life skills and personal interests
  • Ensuring the safety and health of our clients
  • Assisting with personal care needs
  • Supporting medication management
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring

What skills and qualities do I need?

While knowledge of learning disabilities and complex needs is a plus, what truly matters is your passion and dedication. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Enthusiastic, caring, and compassionate
  • Experienced in mental health
  • Flexible, patient, and non-judgmental
  • A dynamic team player with plenty of energy
  • Skilled in effective communication
  • Able to handle the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling
