Westerner Park is seeking a Casual Line Cook to join our dynamic Food & Beverage Services team. The Line Cook plays a vital role in delivering high-quality culinary experiences for our guests and clients by preparing food in a timely, efficient, and sanitary manner. This hands-on position thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and supports both kitchen and concession grill operations as required.

Reporting to the Food & Beverage Services Manager (or designate), the Line Cook is a key contributor to our Catering and Event operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and food safety standards are upheld at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage Services, the Line Cook is responsible for the following:

Food Preparation & Service

  • Set up workstations according to established guidelines and operational requirements.
  • Prepare food items in a sanitary and timely manner, ensuring proper cooking temperatures and safe food handling practices are followed.
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards as directed by the Head Chef and/or Manager.
  • Ensure meals are prepared accurately, on time, and in quantities sufficient to meet daily operational needs.
  • Serve food in proper portion sizes and at appropriate temperatures.
  • Ensure all dishes prepared for guests with food allergies or intolerances meet required specifications and restrictions.

Food Safety, Sanitation & Quality Control

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations throughout each shift.
  • Properly cover, label, and store food items according to established standards and procedures.
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas, walk-in coolers, storage areas, equipment, grills, and surfaces.
  • Perform routine sanitation measures, including floor sweeping and equipment cleaning, to ensure food quality and safety.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, including infection control, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials handling, and fire safety requirements.

Team Support & Operational Flexibility

  • Restock food and supplies as needed during shifts.
  • Assist supervisors by responding to employee inquiries related to food preparation, storage, spoilage, and sanitation.
  • Utilize kitchen equipment safely and effectively during food preparation.
  • Adapt to changing operational needs and take on additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and specification sheets.
  • Minimum of 1 year of cooking experience preferred.
  • Related culinary education is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods, sanitation standards, and safe food handling practices is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Effective communication skills and a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solid work ethic.
Work Environment

As Westerner Park operates within the Major Events industry, flexibility is essential. This role requires availability for evenings and weekends, based on event schedules and operational demands.
