We are hiring a skilled Forklift Operator for our busy distribution center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Forklift Operator will be responsible for operating powered industrial trucks to move, load, unload, and stack materials. This role is critical to our logistics operations, ensuring the efficient flow of goods throughout the warehouse. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of safe operation, excellent maneuvering skills, and a keen eye for detail. You will be expected to perform routine inspections of your forklift and report any issues promptly. Adherence to all safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is paramount. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and coordinate effectively with other warehouse staff. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, electric) to move materials around the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks and trailers safely and efficiently.
- Stack and stage materials in designated areas.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections of forklifts and report any defects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including wearing required PPE.
- Coordinate with shipping and receiving teams to ensure timely movement of goods.
- Understand and execute orders accurately based on logistics requirements.
- Participate in general warehouse duties as needed, including occasional manual lifting.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification and proven experience.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse setting.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with various logistics and material handling equipment.
- Commitment to using PPE and following safety protocols.
