Role Overview

UPharmacy is a dermatology focused pharmacy. We deal with your typical pharmacy practice with an emphasized focus on skin. In this role, the pharmacist will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring patient confidentiality, handling over-the-counter products, and health-related concerns. Some responsibilities may inclide ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant dispensing of medications while providing professional consultation and support to patients and healthcare providers. This role leads pharmacy operations, oversees compounding and dispensing activities, and upholds the highest standards of pharmaceutical care in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. 

Role Objectives

The Pharmacist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review, interpret, and verify prescriptions for accuracy, therapeutic appropriateness, and potential interactions. 
  • Compound, prepare, and dispense medications following regulatory and safety standards. 
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians, assistants, and administrative staff in daily operations.
  • Provide professional consultation and counseling to patients regarding medication use, side effects, and adherence. 
  • Maintain accurate patient, prescription, and inventory records in accordance with Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) standards. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation, including Health Canada and ACP regulations. 
  • Manage controlled substances in adherence to applicable laws and documentation requirements. 
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, audits, and safety reviews. 
  • Oversee inventory levels, ordering, and procurement of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care and treatment outcomes. 
  • Implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives within the pharmacy.

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution. 
  • Current registration and active license in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP). 
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in retail, compounding, or clinical pharmacy settings preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding practices, drug therapy management, and clinical protocols. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software, Microsoft Office applications, and electronic health record systems. 
  • Injection Certification  
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy systems such as Kroll would be an asset
