What You’ll Be Doing:As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Technical Ownership: Lead the design decisions for CCS, supporting the Engineering Manager in delivering in-service programmes.
- Project Leadership: Control project scope, manage design changes, and engage with stakeholders to identify risks early.
- Design Governance: Coordinate programme-level design reviews, manage design baselines, and produce Certificates of Design.
- System Integration: Review and influence technical requirements to ensure seamless integration across sub-systems.
- Expertise Sharing: Provide specialist knowledge in the integration, validation, and verification of systems.
Essential:
- Extensive experience in network or software engineering, ideally with an operations background.
- Proven ability to lead technical matters and provide expert guidance.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it.
- Specialist expertise in Combat Systems, particularly related to submarines, is a plus.
- Familiarity with DOORS and hands-on experience using it.
- Demonstrated experience in change management processes.
Desirable:
- Systems Engineering (INCOSE) qualifications.

You will be joining the In-Service Programme team, working closely with a core group of 6-12 professionals while engaging with a broader network of around 30. This role requires strong technical leadership, proactive problem-solving, and collaboration with the right stakeholders to drive solutions forward. We also offer relocation support packages for eligible candidates.
