We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our logistics team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of our warehouse, focusing on the safe and efficient movement of materials. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for tasks such as loading and unloading shipments, operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment, and ensuring that inventory is organized and accessible. Your duties will include transporting goods, stacking items, and performing regular checks on equipment to ensure it's in good working order. This position demands physical stamina, precision, and a commitment to upholding high safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with material handling equipment, particularly forklifts (certification is often required), and a thorough understanding of warehouse logistics. You must be comfortable with regular heavy lifting and possess excellent attention to detail. Our commitment to safety means that strict adherence to all safety protocols, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE), is expected. Comprehensive training on safe operating procedures and lifting techniques will be provided. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from delivery vehicles and containers.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Stack, sort, and organize inventory according to established procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of material handling equipment.
- Assist with inventory counts and verification.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operator certification is often required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including frequent heavy lifting.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and best practices.
- Proficiency in operating various types of material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Commitment to safety and the use of required PPE.
