We are on the lookout for a talented Preconstruction Manager to oversee complex projects related to water, wastewater, environmental, heavy civil, and military/government facilities. Your role involves reviewing proposals and conceptual designs, scrutinizing detailed design documents (drawings and specifications), attending design development meetings, and conducting site visits to accurately define the project scope and associated costs.
You will mentor and collaborate with a supportive team of professionals as you prepare detailed estimates, develop project work breakdown structures, and assist in creating statements of work for subcontractors and vendors. Your expertise will be key in applying construction methodologies, preparing schedules, and calculating both direct and indirect costs.
Collaboration with design teams is essential to ensure the accuracy of design-build construction estimates.
This role will engage both your creative and analytical skills as you develop insightful reports and presentations while analyzing historical data.
We are seeking individuals with a keen attention to detail, extensive construction experience, and a passion for growth to help tackle challenging water and wastewater projects together.
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or a related field) is required, along with significant experience in the industry.
A strong background in water and wastewater construction, including field experience, is essential.
Proficiency in modern technology related to communications, estimating, scheduling, and database management is crucial. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam, Timberline, Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, and SQL-based databases will be beneficial.
You should have a solid understanding of estimating processes including quantity takeoff, crew development, material quotes, and contingency and risk modeling.
Experience with quantitative risk analysis software is a must. Familiarity with Deltek Acumen, Timberline, and HCSS Heavy Bid is preferred, as is knowledge of project scheduling tools like Primavera P6 and Smartsheet.
You will be expected to mentor junior staff and assist in their development.
Willingness to travel as necessary based on project requirements is important, although travel frequency is generally low.
Preferred Qualifications: Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills are a must, especially for client-facing situations where challenging topics may arise.
Strong interpersonal skills for relationship building and conflict resolution are essential.
Ability to work independently is key, as you will have defined responsibilities and the freedom to guide your path to success.
Physical requirements include the ability to perform various movements, respond to environmental conditions typical in the water and wastewater design-build industry, and operate in environments with active machinery and potential hazards.
This position is based in a dynamic work environment and will allow you to make a significant impact on important projects that benefit communities. We encourage you to apply today!
