Our cutting-edge cloud analytics and data platform for AI enables businesses to harmonize data, trust AI, and accelerate innovation. By using our solutions, top companies across various industries enhance their business performance and enrich customer experiences to make confident decisions. Your Role As a Lead Cloud Architect, you will drive the strategic technical vision and architecture of our cloud platform, with a strong focus on elasticity, scalability, and resilience. This is an influential position that will empower you to drive innovative solutions and make key technology decisions, enhancing our platform's capacity to meet evolving product demands. We seek a candidate with deep expertise in cloud elasticity patterns, multi-cloud capabilities, and modern infrastructure architectures. A strong understanding of the current market landscape, along with the strengths and limitations of various cloud providers, managed services, and open-source technologies, is essential. Your major contributions will merge your knowledge of distributed systems with insights into cloud performance aspects such as storage, networking, I/O, and compute resource dynamics. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our platform’s elasticity by identifying scalability challenges and recommending strategic enhancements. Key Responsibilities Develop and refine the architectural blueprint for a highly elastic, self-optimizing cloud platform. Create frameworks to enable real-time autoscaling, predictive scaling, capacity forecasting, and cost-aware elasticity. Stay updated on cloud provider offerings (AWS, Azure, GCP) and relevant industry tools, focusing on their performance and future directions. Evaluate emerging technologies and vendor solutions, pinpointing opportunities that align with our mission. Influence the long-term engineering strategy by working closely with product management, operations, and security teams to align architectural decisions with business goals. Mentor senior technical leaders and engineering teams, fostering excellence and establishing best practices for scalable cloud architecture. Formulate distributed system patterns that improve workload placement and resource utilization while ensuring reliability and recovery from failures. Design elasticity mechanisms focused on improving cost efficiency without compromising performance or user experience. Lead the creation of reference implementations, proofs-of-concept, and performance experiments to validate design concepts. Investigate platform constraints and collaborate with teams to devise alternative solutions or mitigations. Establish standards and tools to ensure that elasticity features are observable, testable, and production-ready. Who You Will Collaborate With You will work closely with Product Management and platform operations teams to ensure that scalability capabilities integrate seamlessly with deployment pipelines and monitoring systems. Your Qualifications 10+ years of experience in large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering. A proven track record of architecting high-scale, elastic systems across multi-region or multi-cloud environments. In-depth knowledge of cloud provider elasticity primitives and orchestration systems (e.g., Kubernetes, serverless, autoscalers). What You Will Bring Experience with hybrid or edge-cloud architectures. Contributions to open-source cloud infrastructure projects. Experience as a Distinguished Engineer or Principal Engineer in a large-scale cloud-native organization. Your Future at Teradata We prioritize a people-first culture, recognizing our employees as essential to our success. Our flexible work model allows you to choose how, when, and where you work.
