About The Role

The Data Scientist role at DoorDash is a pivotal position within our Analytics team, responsible for guiding measurement, strategy, and tactical decision-making through advanced analytics approaches. As part of this role, you will dive deep into our data to uncover insights, develop hypotheses, and design experiments that influence key business areas such as customer acquisition, marketplace balancing, fraud prevention, and operational efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Operations, and Leadership, to translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations that drive growth and operational excellence.

In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of Data Scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and analytical rigor. You will influence the product and operational roadmaps by providing strategic insights, define success metrics, and establish best practices for experimentation and statistical analysis. Your work will directly impact strategic decisions, helping shape the future direction of the company's marketplace platform. This position offers a unique opportunity to solve complex, real-world problems using data and analytics, making a tangible difference in the company's growth trajectory.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Data Science and Product Analytics, preferably within related industries.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams of Data Scientists.
  • Deep expertise in experimental design, A/B testing, and statistical analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with data pipelines, data modeling, and analysis tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence strategic decisions through data-driven insights.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative environments with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Data Scientists to investigate complex business issues and uncover key drivers of performance.
  • Collaborate with product and operations teams to influence roadmaps through actionable insights.
  • Design and oversee experiments to test hypotheses, measure impact, and optimize business processes.
  • Define and implement measurement strategies, success metrics, and best practices for data analysis.
  • Develop strategic learning roadmaps based on data observations, strategic questions, and hypotheses.
  • Interface regularly with senior leadership to communicate findings, influence decision-making, and showcase team contributions.
  • Build and maintain robust data pipelines to support ongoing analytics initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry trends and continuously improve analytical methodologies and tools.
