Market Sciences Team within MSA is hiring
Senior Data Scientist
with expertise in the areas of: Causal Inference, Measurement, Experimental design, Machine Learning, Econometrics and Statistics. The team turns massive-scale data into actionable insights to drive rigorous, data-driven decisions across MSA, working closely with cross-functional partners. They lead model development, analytics and experimentation across areas such as advertiser value and lifecycle, retention and churn, segmentation and forecasting, campaign effectiveness, ROI measurement, and demand health metrics. Their work includes building measurement frameworks, causal analyses, and prototyping algorithms to optimize sales and marketing impact.

Senior Data Scientist
in MSA Market Sciences Team, you will have the opportunity to apply your data science skills to have a real impact on Microsoft's advertising business, our advertising partners, and millions of end users. Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
Measurement: Design metrics to measure and track Microsoft advertiser demand health and inform/guide sales and marketing execution. Quantify the impact and incrementality of various sales and marketing programs. Experimentation: Design and analyzing the results of online and offline experiments. Using quasi-experiments and counterfactuals to understand the causality in scenarios where AB testing is not feasible. Demand Generation: Prototyping algorithms for creating, managing, and optimizing demand generation activities through sales, marketing, and product to support our ad marketplace Problem formulation: Work with key business stakeholders to understand the underlying business needs and formulate the needs into discrete, manageable problems with well-defined measurable objectives and outcomes. Model development: Develop new predictive and prescriptive models using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques with a goal of productionizing solutions. Influence: Influence stakeholders to make product/service improvements that yield customer/business value by effectively making compelling cases through storytelling, visualizations, and other influencing tools. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in all phases of managing data science projects including problem definition, solution formulation, model building, productionizing and delivering measurable impact. Hands-on experience in design & problem-solving skills with programming languages, such as Python and R and SQL-like query languages. Experience in applying statistics, designing experimentation, causal inference and metrics.

Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
