Senior Network Engineer/Architect
and leverage your expertise to support a high-profile Department of Defense contract. In this role, you will be instrumental in helping to modernize and innovate IT service delivery for DTRA's IT Directorate, facilitating seamless operations for mission partners both domestically and internationally. You will play a key role in designing cutting-edge network solutions that prioritize security and performance. This includes defining technical requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and implementing pilot projects. Your hands-on troubleshooting and proactive network monitoring will ensure our systems remain robust and efficient, particularly in the transition to SD-WAN technologies. This role requires
U.S. citizenship with an active DoD TS/SCI clearance. Primary Responsibilities: Design secure network solutions that streamline connectivity services across the enterprise. Create comprehensive wide area network designs that meet performance, quality of service, and mission objectives. Implement secure access solutions through both wired and wireless technologies, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Integrate capacity planning into network and security solution designs. Identify and recommend network optimization strategies to enhance performance and capacity. Analyze legacy service pathways and formulate modernization strategies that align with security and sustainability objectives. Support the development of IP addressing schemas for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Collaborate with information assurance teams to ensure compliance with DoD standards and provide necessary accreditation artifacts. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 12-15 years of experience or a Master's degree with 10-13 years of experience (or equivalent experience may replace formal education). Possession of a CCNP certification (or comparable vendor certification), with CCIE preferred. Active DoD IAT Level II (e.g., Security+) certification or equivalent prior to start. Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure networking, including LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, IPSec, VPN, and firewall micro-segmentation. Hands-on experience with major networking technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto. Practical experience with SD-WAN solutions, preferably Dell Versa. Familiarity with Azure and AWS cloud networking. Experience with AAA servers and enterprise wireless systems. Proficient in using diagramming tools for designing network solutions. Adept at troubleshooting complex network issues and conducting site surveys. Experience in executing migration plans or technology refreshes within IT environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting SOPs and technical documentation. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with automation tools including Ansible and Python for building Infrastructure as Code. Familiarity with network management tools and systems like SolarWinds or Cisco Catalyst. In-depth knowledge of various routing protocols and telecommunications. Expertise in DoD security requirements for network infrastructure. Experience in system hardening including DoD STIG implementation. Leadership experience in managing teams of engineers.
