Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Asphalt Estimator to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to evaluate project requirements, analyze plans and specifications, and prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for various asphalt paving, repair, and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with clients, suppliers, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze Project Requirements: Review blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine the scope of work and required resources.
• Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services using industry-standard software
• Quantity Take-offs: Perform accurate material quantity take-offs from plans and drawings.
• Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate proposals, and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive bids.
• Bid Preparation & Submission: Develop comprehensive bid proposals and ensure all documentation is complete and submitted on time according to client requirements.
• Market Research: Stay updated on current market conditions, material costs, and labor rates to inform accurate cost assessments.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and the sales team to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution.
• Site Visits: Conduct on-site evaluations to assess project conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimation.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 2 years of experience in construction estimating, with specific experience in asphalt paving and site work preferred.
• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project.
• Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical and analytical thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational Skills: Strong time management and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Other: A valid driver's license and the ability to visit job sites are required.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
