Part-Time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Inpatient Pain Management

Position Overview

Transitional Pain & Specialty Group (TPSG) is seeking a Part-Time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide inpatient rounding and pain consult coverage at Tampa General Hospital. This role involves managing patients' acute pain needs in an inpatient setting while working both independently and collaboratively with physicians and hospital staff.

The ideal candidate is clinically confident, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced inpatient environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient rounding for pain management consults
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, evaluations, and documentation
• Manage and adjust pain control regimens under the guidance of the attending physician
• Respond to new consults, follow-ups, and urgent pain-related issues
• Collaborate with hospital staff, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely documentation in the EMR
• Ensure effective hand-off communication with the day team
• Manage a daily patient census of approximately 20–30 patients
• Order appropriate diagnostic tests and accurately interpret results
• Independently order pain management interventions once training is completed
• Prepare prescription orders for controlled and non-controlled substances in compliance with regulations
• Communicate and coordinate care with patients, families, facilities, and interdisciplinary medical teams
• Triage patient, facility, and pharmacy telephone calls and messages
• Serve as a clinical resource to other medical teams
• Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives to support practice growth
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory boards, hospital policies, and agencies

Schedule

• Day Shift
• 8-hour or 10-hour shifts available
• Schedule: Friday- Sunday

Compensation

• Salary Range: $75,000 – $93,750 annually, based on shift length and scheduled hours worked.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Florida
• Active DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
• Inpatient or pain management experience preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced inpatient hospital environment
