Position Summary
The CDL Driver with Passenger Endorsement is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of clients to and from scheduled services, appointments, and program-related activities.
This role requires a high level of professionalism, adherence to safety regulations, and a client-centered approach while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and organizational transportation standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments, treatment services, community resources, and program activities.
- Operate passenger vehicles in compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT), state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure passengers are properly secured and follow all safety procedures during transport.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and required documentation.
- Provide professional, respectful, and supportive interactions with clients at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and program staff regarding schedules, delays, or client needs.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure vehicles are fueled and ready for service.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, or client concerns in accordance with organizational policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards, as applicable. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) Endorsement, in good standing.
Other Duties Assigned by Supervisor
- Ensuring clients get to and from meals
- Assisting other departments with transportation when needed
- Function as an interdisciplinary team member and assist with supervision of clients to continuously maintain their needed with services and treatment
Qualifications
- Clean driving record with no major violations, as required by insurance and DOT standards.
- Ability to pass background checks, motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and drug and alcohol screening.
- Experience transporting passengers, preferably in a healthcare, social services, or human services setting.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or emergency situations.
Physical Requirement
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
- Ability to assist passengers with boarding and exiting vehicles as needed.
Work Environment
- Frequent driving in various weather and traffic conditions.
- Interaction with diverse client populations.
- May require flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program needs.
Pay: $ $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
