Reports to Program Director

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Annual Salary: $ 55,000 - $69,000 - commensurate with education and experience.

Work Site Location: Queens, NY

Job Description Summary

The Education Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, coaching, and supervision to Education Directors and teaching staff while ensuring the high-quality implementation of the program's educational services. This role ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and UPK–DOE requirements.

The Education Coordinator leads curriculum planning, assessment, and data analysis; supports CLASS and ECERS observations; and monitors School Readiness Goals (SRGs) and teacher credentials. The position plays a key role in program planning, professional development, and continuous quality improvement to ensure educational services are data-driven, effective, and responsive to children and families.

Duties and Responsibilities

Educational Leadership & Quality Assurance

  • Conducts CLASS assessments twice annually and provides feedback to Education Directors and teaching staff.
  • Guides curriculum implementation, program planning, and instructional practices using data and outcomes reports.
  • Analyzes educational data and prepares reports related to program quality, self-assessment, and annual reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with agency, City, State, and Federal standards, including licensing requirements.
  • Supports the Program Director in meeting program-wide educational goals.

Staff Supervision, Coaching & Professional Development

  • Coaches and supports Education Directors and teachers through observation, modeling best practices, and feedback.
  • Completes performance evaluations for Education Directors.
  • Plans, coordinates, and monitors professional development for teaching staff and Education Directors.
  • Provides training and workshops for staff and parents on curriculum, instruction, and teaching strategies.
  • Attends professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Collaboration & Family Engagement

  • Works collaboratively with component heads to ensure children are school-ready.
  • Partners with the PFCE Coordinator to strengthen family engagement efforts.
  • Collaborates with the Disabilities Coordinator and consultants to support children and families receiving special education services.
  • Assesses parent and family needs and helps develop programs to address those needs.
  • Conducts home visits and participates in case conferences with staff and parents.

Program Operations & Administration

  • Assists the Program Director with operational procedures, strategic initiatives, and special projects.
  • Collects CLASS and ECERS data for program self-assessment and annual reporting.
  • Participates in program planning, development, and evaluation of educational services.
  • Arranges transportation contracts and coordinates school trips.
  • Serves as Acting Center/Education Director in the absence of an assigned Director.
  • Serves on project teams or in an advisory role to support organizational initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required
  • Professional and/or Permanent New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Head Start and UPK programs
  • Prior experience as an Education Director or administrator required

  • Experience working with families in an Early Childhood Education setting
