Job Description And Duties
The position is limited term and may be extended for another 12 months or may become permanent.

CalRecycle is looking for a Research Data Specialist II who is self-motivated, creative, and customer focused to conduct qualitative and quantitative data research and analysis of the Beverage Container Recycling Program (Program). In addition, the incumbent will conduct economic and statistical studies involving the assessment of cost, supply, demand, utilization and trends of resources for recycling program planning, budgeting, and forecasting of the Beverage Container Recycling Fund's (Fund) cash flow and expenditures. The incumbent will inform, consult and advise leadership on the health of the Fund and impacts of legislative and policy changes to ensure the sustainability of the Fund and Program.

Travel may include extended periods (4 to 5 days at a time) requiring overnight accommodations and weekend assignments, not to exceed 10 percent per year.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense. Beginning July 1, 2026, it is anticipated the position will be office-centered and employees will be expected to report to the office at least four days per week.
