Position Summary:
The Construction Manager is responsible for the overall construction and rehab programs of HFHMC. In accordance with HFHMC house plans, HFHI and HFHMC specifications and quality requirements, supervises overall construction activity and provides leadership to construction activity, including all paid contractors, construction staff/interns, and volunteers. Ensures that a safe construction environment is maintained in accordance with OSHA, City of Grand Junction, Mesa County, and HFHMC regulations. Previous experience with Habitat for Humanity preferred but not required.
Employment Status: Exempt Full Time salaried position at 40+ hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday.
Essential Functions:
Construction
Suggests potential advantageous building practices and material cost savings opportunities to Operations Manager and Construction Committee Chairperson as identified
Supervises all site preparation and layout
Supervises job sites on each designated workday and works with construction staff and volunteers to ensure construction is accomplished in accordance with approved permits and plans
Evaluates and implements good safety practices and constantly stresses same with interns, crew leaders, volunteers, other staff, and homeowner participants
Supervises and/or performs all homeowner warranty repairs
Develops and implements current construction site safety manual and policy, safety precautions, and training of staff and volunteers in appropriate safety measures and participates in monthly safety committee meeting on job site
Develops monthly calendar of construction activities before start of new month
Provide leadership to sub-contractors so that work is performed in a timely, quality manner and ensures correct paperwork is completed and processed before work is completed on site
Communicates delays and barriers to building as soon as possible to Director of Operations and attempts to prevent and resolve issues when possible
Supervision of architectural draftsman and detailed review of plans with feedback for Construction Committee review
Intimate knowledge of City of Grand Junction building codes, permitting requirements, and other local requirements as needed
Complete identified maintenance at job site consistently and in timely manner
Must complete annual Competent Person training offered via Habitat International
Volunteers and Partner Families
Trains volunteer crew leaders, group build volunteers, and core volunteers
Treats Homeowner Participants and volunteers with respect and dignity. Strives to make their construction involvement meaningful and reminds all involved parties of this requirement
Understands elements that contribute to successful volunteers and helps ensure that volunteers have a consistently good environment thus motivating them to return
Anticipates problems and issues and personally acts if necessary, to help ensure schedules are met and work plans enabled
Ensures that communications to volunteers and partner families are accurate and timely.
Identifies volunteer jobs/needs not currently filled and satisfies needs with appropriate volunteers
Works with Volunteer Coordinator to prepare for volunteer workers at designated work site and group build preparation.
Trains all volunteers utilizing knowledge from crew leaders and other construction staff.
Meets all long- and short-term goals established by the Executive Director and construction committee.
During group builds, encourages excellent volunteers to consider becoming core construction volunteers and work to engage all on-site volunteers in building tasks
Communication: Understand and articulate the mission of Habitat for Humanity with ease and create lasting partnerships with businesses and organizations in community that encourage in-kind donations, reduced labor charges, etc. to help keep build affordable. Effective communication with volunteer coordinator and supervisor.
Mission Oriented: Believes in Habitat's mission and values and consider them as a framework for all professional decisions.
People Oriented: Provides motivating leadership and contributes to all assigned committees. Patience for training volunteers of all skill levels and ability to assign tasks during group build events.
Results Oriented: Completes projects following HFHI and HFHMC guidelines and requirements in timely fashion. Able to coordinate and communicate with support team to complete required number of house builds per year. Creates and updates monthly calendar of construction activities to remain accountable and allow for group builds to be scheduled. Completes additional tasks as requested by the Construction Committee, Operations Manager, and the Executive Director.

Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in the construction/contracting business.
Current General Contractor license.
Management experience preferred.
Flexibility and patience to work with diverse team and volunteers
Ability to use computer for budgeting, construction projections. Ability to navigate and use Revit preferred.
Active listener, able to engage in well-considered discussions.
Problem Solving Skills
Attention to detail and safety on job site
Ability to lift 50 pounds. Work will require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions.
Ability to pass Criminal Background Check and Drug Test

Pay: $65, $70,000.00 per year
