Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Certified Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in medical coding and documentation, with a focus on accurately translating medical records into standardized codes. As a Certified Medical Coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with coding regulations, and optimal reimbursement for services rendered.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM codes.
- Ensure all coding aligns with current industry standards and regulatory guidelines to maintain compliance.
- Collaborate with our medical billing team to facilitate accurate claim submissions and resolve coding discrepancies.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of medical terminology, coding updates, and documentation requirements within electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations affecting medical coding, billing, and reimbursement processes.
- Accurately schedule skilled clinician's weekly visits based on frequencies provided.
- Assist with insurance eligibilities and obtain insurance prior authorizations as required by various insurance agencies.
- Maintain patient files as required by the agency.
- Assist with managing orders being faxed to the appropriate physicians and uploading them to the patient chart once returned.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Coder from an accredited organization (e.g., AAPC CPC or AHIMA CCS).
- Proven experience in medical coding within a healthcare or home care setting.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding systems, DRG classifications, and related billing procedures.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation standards.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for coding and recordkeeping purposes.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
