Job Summary

Essential Functions

• Performs responsibilities accurately, timely, and safely for assigned patients/area

• Communicates and informs appropriate personnel, patients and family members of pertinent information in a timely manner

• Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation

• Utilizes equipment and supplies safely and appropriately; orders supplies as needed; labels specimens correctly

• Performs basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, multiple treatments, waived testing and transports assigned patients

• Shows proficiency in blood collection and performs task in timely and accurate manner

• Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - Successful completion of a tech training course as evidenced by a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam or nursing fundamentals from an accredited organization.  Successful completion of a phlebotomy course from an accredited organization is required. Medical Assistant Training is acceptable. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.

• Experience - One (1) year of nurse tech hospital experience or skilled nursing facility is required if the candidate does not meet all of the educational requirements. Two (2) years of NT/NA experience preferred. Three (3) months of phlebotomy experience preferred.

In Lieu Of

• In lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course, we will accept current or former state CNAs certification as proof of completed state-required training at the time of hire.   

• In lieu of school verification of a medical assistant training course, we will accept current or former CMA certification as proof of completed required training at the time of hire.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

• Heart Saver certification

• Candidate must successfully complete the System's phlebotomy course and training within 90 days of hire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Computer proficiency.
