Summary Description

Under limited supervision, guides the daily activities of testing and result analysis and reporting to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. Serves as the technical expert and provides ongoing education and training to staff. Assist in research and specialized projects as appropriate. Supports the standards set forth in the DMCs Code of Conduct by creating an atmosphere of commitment to legal and ethical standards, and as directed, implementing external and internal audit recommendations. Monitors activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures. 

1. Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, related science or clinical discipline, or Canadian degree in clinical discipline and completion of accredited Canadian Technologist program. 

2. Registry eligible or registered by ASCP, Canadian CSMLS, NCA or HLA ACHI. 

3. Previous training in all components of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics lab service, and a minimum of 3 years experience in HLA, including serologic, and low and high resolution molecular typing, and post-transplant monitoring. 

4. Flow cytometry experience preferred. 

5. CHT or CHS Certification by American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics preferred.

DMC University Laboratories (DMCUL) is a regional, integrated laboratory system providing services to the eight hospitals of Detroit Medical Center.  DMC University Laboratories evolved in 1993 and is comprised of Core Laboratories,  Specialty Laboratories, two  rapid response hospital laboratories, Centralized Stat Lab, Centralized Blood
