Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Staff member with strong Mechanical knowledge to join our team. This role involves maintaining and repairing a variety of equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and safety. The ideal candidate will have experience in maintenance, electrical systems, welding, and mechanical troubleshooting, with the ability to maintain diesel and gas equipment and vehicles. Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus, along with excellent customer service skills. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Conduct welding repairs and fabrication as needed for equipment or structural components
- Assist with electrical repairs, installations, and upgrades in compliance with safety standards
- Oversee facilities maintenance tasks including residential painting, and general repairs
- Supervise junior maintenance staff or contractors when required
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal client needs promptly and professionally
Skills
- Extensive mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and technical manuals
- Welding skills for fabrication and repair tasks
- Strong supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance setting
- Excellent communication skills in English for clear documentation and team coordination
- Customer service orientation with the ability to prioritize safety and operational efficiency
This position is diverse with ever changing tasks depending on the weather, time of year, equipment conditions and vehicle needs.
You will be required to work independently or with a team to accomplish project goals in a timely fashion.
Some of the projects will include:
*Day to day maintenance of equipment, shop and fleet vehicles (diesel and gas) including fueling.
*Equipment improvements which include sanding, priming, painting and mechanical repairs and upgrades.
*The procurement of supplies, auto parts, tires and materials as needed.
Knowledge of hand tools and related small equipment, including sanders, painting equipment, fork lift, pallet jack, air compressor, grinders and similar is required. Carpentry/building experience is preferred.
Must have the ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 75 pounds.
Prefer a mature, seasoned person who offers suggestions and implements systems to better the company image and procatively maintains equipment in good working order.
Some projects will be handled independently and others with a partner or team.
Effective communication is imperative.
Full time with paid holidays, vacations and pension plan. No medical or dental benefits offered at this time.
Must have a valid drivers license and good driving record. Reliable transportation to our shop in Richmond,RI is required. Daily use of company vehicle applies.
Experienced tradesperson preferred. Have an open attitude to learn skills like welding, fabricating and similar. NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL POSITION.
