Position Summary:
Provide sustained leadership in the Center's heliophysics/solar physics research portfolio, with specific emphasis on local helioseismology, active-region emergence and evolution, flare-driven dynamics, and space-weather forecasting.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and grow externally funded research in helioseismic diagnostics and flare/particle-beam physics.
  • Develop and operationalize advanced analysis pipelines (e.g., helioseismic travel-time and power-map products) that support forecasting and fundamental research).

Additional Functions:

  • Increase student engagement in data-intensive research aligned with NJIT's strategic priorities in computational science, data-driven discovery, and space-weather resilience.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • PhD in applied physics.
  • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in solar/space physics, helioseismology, space mission data analysis, supercomputer modeling.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the starting salary for this position is $70,000.00-$80, USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
