Lead Surgical Technician

About the Role:

The Lead Surgical Technician plays a critical role in the operating room, ensuring that surgical procedures are conducted smoothly and efficiently. This position involves overseeing the surgical team, coordinating with surgeons and nurses, and maintaining a sterile environment to promote patient safety. The Lead Surgical Technician is responsible for preparing surgical instruments and equipment, as well as anticipating the needs of the surgical team during procedures. Additionally, this role includes training and mentoring surgical technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team atmosphere. Ultimately, the Lead Surgical Technician contributes to high-quality patient care and successful surgical outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent
• Certification as a surgical technologist (CST) from a recognized body.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a surgical technician in an operating room setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a lead or supervisory role within a surgical team.
• Additional certifications in specialized surgical procedures.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and organize surgical instruments and equipment prior to procedures.
• Assist surgeons and nurses during surgeries by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Supervise and train junior surgical technicians and support staff.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety.
