JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction and supervision of the Head Lifeguard, Aquatic Manager, Assistant Aquatic Manager and Manager on Duty; this position is primarily responsible to supervise the pool, deck area, and related support facilities.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
Must be certified in StarGuard lifeguard training program
Adult, child and infant CPR and first aid certification
Must be at least 15 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Water rescues for a victim in any situation.
- Knowledge of basic life support information including CPR and rescue breathing for adults, children, and infants; oxygen administration; and first aid.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise general public swim, concentrating on safety as the number one priority.
- Strictly enforce policies, rules and regulations.
- Assist in the daily cleaning, order and care of the pool, locker rooms, deck, and surrounding areas.
- includes the emptying of litter receptacles. Maintain cleanliness of these areas throughout the day.
- Thoroughly review hazards and problems within entire facility, reporting any broken equipment
- conditions to the supervisor.
- Attend necessary staff meetings and trainings.
- Monitor patrons in locker room facilities.
- Be at station before patrons enter pool and until all patrons are out of pool.
- Be properly dressed and presenting a neat appearance.
- Follow emergency plan in the event of an emergency.
- Vacuum pools as scheduled.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.
- Abide by the Bolingbrook Park District dress code for your area
- Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Park District's safety program.
- Work as a Team Player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Seeing: to observe patrons in aquatic complex
- Walking: while supervising pool and deck area
- Sitting: while stationed in guard chair
- Lifting: to make rescues; to stack deck chairs; to empty trash receptacles
- Climbing: to get on guard chair
- Pulling: to put lane markers in place; to make rescue; to move deck chairs
- Pushing: to move deck chairs and lane line reel
- Stooping: to pick up litter
- Crouching: to pick up litter
- Reaching: to retrieve materials such as first aid supplies
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
Must have the ability to assess emergency situations and react quickly and calmly. Ability to relate to others in a professional manner. Must exhibit good safety awareness and judgment

This is a seasonal, hourly non-exempt position

Hours will be set by Aquatic Manager.
