Lifeguard

Responsibilities

• Maintain surveillance of patrons in the pool and respond quickly to all emergencies.
• Perform preventive lifeguarding and enforce rules to keep patrons safe.
• Stay alert to recognize when a patron is struggling in the water.
• Ability to work as a part of a team to perform tasks (first aid, cleaning, etc.) and to effectively respond in an emergency.
• Effectively communicate with staff and patrons.
• Ability to listen to and implement feedback.

Wage: $13-15/hour

• Starting pay adjustable depending on previous lifeguard experience.
• Weekday shifts from 5:30 AM - 3:00 PM start at $15/hour.

Schedule Options

• 58-hour average over two weeks
• Schedule A:
• 1st & 3rd Weeks - 39 hours
• 2nd & 4th Weeks - 19 hours
• Schedule B:
• 1st & 3rd Weeks - 19 hours
• 2nd & 4th Weeks - 39 hours
• 19-hours/week with occasional boost to 40 hours throughout the year, especially in the summer.

Requirements

• A minimum of 16 years of age
• Ability to pass a pre-lifeguard training swim test
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Training

• Pre-employment Red Cross Lifeguard training and certification provided at no cost.
