The Assistant Project Engineer (or Intern) plays a supportive role within the project team, gaining exposure to various phases of construction project management. Responsibilities include assisting with documentation, coordination, and communications on both office and field assignments. This role is designed to offer insight and growth opportunities for individuals pursuing a career in construction management.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the project team with administrative and coordination tasks across multiple project phases.
- Help process and manage RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, daily reports, and meeting minutes.
- Attend meetings and assist in preparation of weekly reports and agendas.
- Assist with tracking and updating project logs (drawings, specifications, submittals, etc.).
- Participate in punch list generation and field documentation of conditions.
- Aid in mock-up and field testing coordination.
- Support distribution of project correspondence and communications.
- Assist with project close-out documentation including O&M manuals and As-Builts.
- Update and maintain schedules under supervision.
- Work both in the office and in the field as needed.
- Actively enrolled in or recently graduated from a four-year degree program in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of construction processes, RFIs, submittals, and drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, scheduling software, and/or construction management platforms preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must be physically able to navigate construction sites including climbing ladders, stairs, and navigating uneven surfaces. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Tasks may involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as necessary.
Work Environment:This role operates primarily at construction job sites. Exposure to weather, noise, and mechanical equipment is typical. Protective gear and adherence to safety standards are required at all times.
