Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer (Power) is responsible for executing the electrical engineering scope on moderate to large industrial projects. This includes leading design efforts, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, managing technical aspects of projects, and ensuring successful delivery through all phases of design and construction. Example scopes include micro-grid power generation facilities, MCC and switchgear specifications and design, facility power distribution, substation design, complex grounding systems, power system studies including arc flash, short circuit, load flow, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead moderate to large-sized electrical power and controls projects, providing technical direction and decision-making on complex issues
- Coordinate with multi-disciplined design teams to deliver complete, high-quality construction documents
- Develop power and controls drawings, specifications, equipment selection, and supporting documentation
- Perform engineering calculations, studies, detailed designs, reports, and design reviews
- Design and support electrical power systems including high, medium, and low voltage systems, switchgear, MCCs, drives, emergency power, service entrances, and power distribution
- Manage project scope changes, identify risks, and support development of mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with internal staff to develop design drawings, perform design reviews, and deliver high quality construction documents
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, vendors, and contractors
- Provide field support during front end engineering and construction as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- 5+ years of related electrical engineering experience
- Industrial electrical systems design experience
- Direct experience supporting industrial facilities
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, API, and AGA recommended practices
- Experience with SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower design software required
- Experience with AutoDesk software; CadWorx Electrical experience a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with arc flash hazard analysis and electrical equipment upgrades
- Field experience supporting projects during front end engineering and construction
- Broad electrical background including power and controls systems

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated salary/hourly range for this position is
$95,000-$150,000 per year.
