William Charles Construction is hiring for an Environmental Compliance Manager in New Albany, IN

The Environmental Compliance Manager ensure all heavy civil construction projects comply with government and company environmental regulations. This role supports project teams in implementing environmental processes, conducts site assessments and manager corrective actions to minimize environmental risk and maintain compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and implement government and company environmental regulations and risk mabagement practices in a construction environment.
  • Maintain excellent communication with the Corporate Environmental Manager and project teams regarding compliance and promptly remedy any deficiencies.
  • Support the implementation of environmental processes at project sites.
  • Conduct environmental site assessments to ensure compliance objectives are met.
  • Review weekly environmental checks from projects and take appropriate actions.
  • Provide weekly environmental site assessment reports to the Corporate Environmental Manager.
  • Support project teams in resolving identified environmental issues.
  • Ensure complete and appropriate corrective action for any serious environmental condition identified.
  • Assist in incident investigations and develop meaningful corrective actions.
  • Support project management in establishing environmental programs, including agency interaction and contact information.
  • Ensure site EHS plans are current and relevant.
  • Support implementation of the Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Travel: Willingness to travel to projects regularly up to 75%.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of environmental compliance within heavy civil construction or similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them practically.
  • Proficiency in environmental management software and MS Office Suite.

Certifications Preferred

  • Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety
  • SWPPP Certification
  • CESSWI, CISEC or SPESC

Work Environment

Frequent travel up to 75%

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
