Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Sample Processing Technician to join our laboratory team. The role will coordinate and perform a diverse set of tasks supporting clients with sample supplies, sample receipts, COC and project documentation, and supports Laboratories with accurate and timely sample distribution. Follows all Standard Operating Procedures and the MI Quality Program. Experience with logistics and shipping is a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Receives client samples, unpacks sample coolers, labels samples appropriately and disperses samples to appropriate laboratory.
  • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) – beyond basic logging, include troubleshooting and data integrity checks.
  • Logs samples into LIMS system and generates project folders for laboratories.
  • Follows contract information as provided for applicable projects, and notifies accounting if discrepancies are encountered.
  • Assembles and ships client sampling supplies. Familiarity with shipping platforms and international logistics tools (FedEx, UPS, etc).
  • Communicates all project information to lab personnel.
  • Manages bio-trap inventory and notifies lab director when supplies are needed.
  • Manufactures advanced ISM bio-trap orders.
  • Stocks supplies necessary for daily tasks to be completed.
  • Takes out area trash each week as needed.
  • Keeps up with necessary logs (biotraps, smartDNA, subcontract, etc) and follows standard operating procedures of Sample Processing Department.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of area.
  • Manages and ships subcontract samples (SIP, DIC, etc).
  • Manages shipment for all conference and workshop events.
  • Provides answers to client questions by phone and email as necessary.
  • Maintains a friendly customer service attitude with all client interactions.
  • Follows all assigned SOPs.
  • Works to resolve any conflicts that may arise between people and areas of company for the most positive outcome.
  • Solves problems that arise to the best of their ability before involving upper management.
  • Creates a monthly report for the CEO regarding area including sample volume, spending breakdown, new developments, employee reporting, etc.
  • Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending process improvements.
  • Reports any major problems or issues to Laboratory Director.
  • Salaried position that is expected to work at least 40 hours per week, with understanding that they may need to stay longer on busy weeks to get any necessary work completed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, great organization skills, and good time management skills.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to stringent timelines is a must for this position.
  • Previous logistics experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs (sample cooler).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
