We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our surgical team. This vital role involves providing expert nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures within a fast-paced, high-standard environment. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of aseptic techniques, patient assessment, and perioperative care, ensuring optimal outcomes for our patients. *Duties*
* Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary sterile equipment and supplies are available and properly sterilized.
* Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures by maintaining a sterile field and providing necessary instruments and materials.
* Monitor patient vital signs continuously throughout surgical procedures, responding promptly to any changes or emergencies.
* Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following strict protocols and documentation standards.
* Support patient positioning, comfort, and safety before, during, and after surgery while adhering to aseptic techniques.
* Document all aspects of patient care accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner or Expanse ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
* Provide post-operative care instructions and monitor recovery progress, including wound care, suturing assistance, and pain management.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiology, radiology (e.g., CT imaging), laboratory personnel, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
*Requirements*
* Valid RN or LPN license with current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
* Prior experience working in an operating room environment with proficiency in sterile processing and aseptic technique.
* Knowledge of surgical procedures across various specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology (including catheterization), orthopedics, or general surgery is preferred.
* Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner or Expanse for accurate medical documentation.
* Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medication administration protocols, and diagnostic evaluation processes.
* Experience with suturing, specimen collection/processing, ventilator management, and IV insertion is highly desirable.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure in high-acuity settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers.
* Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care; experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics or patients with developmental disabilities is advantageous. Pay: $35.00 - $40.25 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
