Job Purpose

In your role as a Heavy Duty Road Call Service Mechanic, you will be providing roadside and field-based mechanical support for heavy duty vehicles and equipment, including refuse trucks. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience diagnosing and repairing engines, hydraulic systems, and air brake systems, as well as the ability to work independently in fast-paced, variable environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Performs engine repair and maintenance
  • Performs diagnoses on engines, motors, hydraulic, and air break systems 
  • Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools
  • Performs electrical repairs
  • Assists with DOT inspections
  • Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment
  • Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary
  • Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime
  • Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner
  • Troubleshoots emissions issues
  • Actively problem solves
  • Executes work orders and turns into Maintenance Supervisor for company records
