The Opportunity

Are you a strategic procurement leader who thrives at the intersection of business partnership, risk management, and value creation? Do you bring a sharp eye for contracts, a passion for continuous improvement, and the confidence to advise senior leaders?

We're looking for a Senior Procurement and Contracting Advisor to provide organization-wide leadership in procurement and contract management across AMA and its subsidiary companies. In this role, you'll lead strategic sourcing initiatives, strengthen supplier relationships, enhance systems and processes, and ensure regulatory and policy compliance — all while helping AMA achieve best value for money and long-term sustainability. This is a highly influential role with broad organizational impact, offering the opportunity to shape how AMA sources, contracts, and partners — today and into the future.

A Place to Belong

AMA isn't just a workplace—it's a community. We treat one another like friends and family, grounded in respect, integrity, and collaboration. We're proud to serve over one million members across Alberta, delivering services they rely on every day.

As part of our team, you'll enjoy:

  • Flexible health and wellness benefits ranging from $1,000–$3,000
  • Employer-paid Retirement Savings Plan (5% contribution + 5% matching)
  • Discounts on AMA memberships, registries, travel, and driver education
  • Unlimited access to learning tools like Udemy and dedicated development time
  • Paid time off including 3 weeks of vacation, a Me-Day, Volunteer Day, and optional vacation purchase

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Lead and execute innovative procurement, contract management, and strategic sourcing initiatives that align with long-term organizational goals, deliver best value, and mitigate risk.
  • Champion the development and continuous improvement of procurement programs, policies, and best practices, providing subject-matter expertise, guidance, and training across the organization.
  • Lead cross-functional, enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives, including vendor selection, cost-saving strategies, market analysis, and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee RFx processes, contract lifecycle management, and supplier performance, including renewals, extensions, renegotiations, and strategic reviews.
  • Strengthen supplier relationships through proactive collaboration with business leaders, while identifying opportunities for cost optimization and improved outcomes.
  • Ensure regulatory, corporate policy, and compliance requirements are enforced throughout the procurement and contracting lifecycle, supporting due diligence and third-party risk management.
  • Leverage data, reporting, and system enhancements—including source-to-pay automation—to deliver actionable insights, monitor savings and compliance, and inform procurement strategy.

Who You Are

  • A trusted advisor with strong relationship, negotiation, and conflict-management skills.
  • A strategic thinker who takes initiative and executes innovative solutions.
  • A natural collaborator who can unify diverse stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
  • A mentor and coach who enjoys building capability across teams.
  • A detail-oriented professional with a strong compliance and risk-management mindset.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Post-secondary degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • A professional designation or certification through Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) or another recognized institution (preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in procurement, contract management, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in procurement, vendor management, contract negotiation, and supply chain best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
