Current certificate showing IV Therapy status is preferred.
Good understanding of medical and pharmacological terminology.

Position Summary:
Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse – LPN Charge Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will display compassion, education, proficiency, and experience while assisting the Sisters. This critical role assists in creating and managing nursing care plans and will participate in evaluating the Sisters’ current and future medical needs.

$30.00 per hour plus shift differential ($0.85 to $4.25/hour).

What You’ll Do - Essentials Duties:
Assist with nurse aide assignments and may oversee their work.
Make necessary rounds to the Sisters’ rooms to assess the quality of nursing care. Analyze the care required for each Sister and give input to provide necessary services.
Observe, respond to, and report Sisters’ symptoms and condition.
Transcribe physicians’ orders and administer medications with eMAR.
Complete finger sticks and give insulin as ordered. Those qualified will start and monitor IV (intravenous) lines as necessary.
Accompany physicians on rounds.
Chart pertinent information in the medical record in an accurate and comprehensive manner.
Schedule appointments for Sisters (doctor, dentist, etc.) and record in electronic scheduler.
Supervise dietary intake and report persistent, unresolved problems to Director of Nursing Services and/or to the dietician.
Obtain lab orders.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent).

Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk, engage in a full range of motion, ability to lift/carry medium weight (up to 35 pounds), engage in pushing and pulling light weight; must have normal peripheral vision, normal vision, and hearing (after correction); must have normal depth perception and sense of touch.
Ability to move about with reasonable accommodation, reach, turn, twist, and touch.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 12 hours.
Must be able to operate building equipment.
Must be able to provide personal care to residents, ambulating, lifting, toileting, and turning individuals of at least 150 pounds.
Working Environment:
Works in various settings to include office environments, resident rooms, and well-lighted hallways.
Subject to frequent interruptions.
Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated, and ventilated office.
Some trips outdoors will be required.
May be exposed to various health-related materials, such as blood and body fluids, oxygen containers in use in work area.
Employees may be required to perform other related duties and activities.
