Title: Technician
Department: Cut
Description
The Cut Technician is responsible for handling a variety of metal materials and parts, such as sheets, beams, and castings in the preliminary stages of manufacturing utility trailers. Metals are typically steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Technicians regularly perform tasks relating to cutting, forming, grinding, drilling, and moving these materials. Technicians perform these actions by reading cut lists, engineering drawings, following a production schedule, and/or by receiving instruction from their supervisors. Training is available for all new employees.
While Sauber Manufacturing appreciates when employees are open to learning a variety of skills or equipment, Technicians often focus on particular areas for training and efficiency purposes. Some of these areas include, but aren't limited to, the following:
- Operate saws, drills, plasma cutters, and/or a press brake
- Operate lathes, mills, drill presses
- Operate laser cutters for metal sheets and structural metal
- Operate forklifts
Job Duties
- Read cut lists for the purposes of making cuts, drilling holes, or making bends.
- Use tape measure
- Ability to regularly lift 10 – 30 lbs., and up to 50 lbs. Moving materials by lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, or other body movements; as well as by using hoists, cranes, and carts.
- Operate crane, hoists, slings, and chains
- Operate saws, drills, plasma cutters, benders
- Job tasks could also include operating laser cutting machines and/or a press brake
- Operate powered industrial trucks
- Communicate safety and efficiency issues to supervisors
- Complete safety and instructional training as assigned and on time. Follow safety procedures and requirements, such as wearing safety shoes and safety glasses in all production areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Experience in an industrial setting (whether commercial or education) operating equipment and tools; preferably manufacturing and assembly
- High school diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associates degree, or trade school certification, in industrial technology, automotive or diesel, welding, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, drafting, or related.
- Ability to regularly lift objects between 5 – 20 pounds; infrequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
- Read and communicate in English
