Position Summary: Reporting to the President, this person will be responsible for leading and managing the service and maintenance efforts and processes for the Dickerson Transportation fleet and all gasoline or powered equipment in a safe and cost-effective manner. As discussed due to your proximity to the D'Lo and Pelahatchie store locations you will also be responsible for all aspects of maintenance at these two locations. You will work directly with the Dickerson Petroleum service manager to accept and complete the work orders as they come in. This will require flexibility from you and your team.
Status: Exempt, with on-call Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the application of all safety rules; department personnel are aware of and are employing safe work practices, promoting safety programs and behaviors.
- Setting goals for the department's performance through establishing KPIs
- Ensuring consistent, widespread use of best practices within maintenance
- Ensuring effective processes for purchasing parts and managing the storeroom
- Administering and monitoring contracts for basic maintenance services efforts and ensuring adequate contract management, including contractor selection/induction/supervision/validation
- Identifying opportunities to enhance the overall maintenance work process and improve cost-effectiveness and efficiency
- Assessing maintenance staff competency levels versus requirements and identifying training/hiring needs. Ensure high utilization of staff
- Coaching and developing maintenance department personnel and holding them accountable for the delivery of results
- Leading the development of the department's annual budgeting process and continuously monitoring performance versus budget; taking necessary actions to achieve committed results
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Monitor department overtime, and prepare periodic overtime reports
- Prepare and approve timecards
- Prepare and periodically report on the budgets
- Oversee and issue coaching, development, and disciplinary actions for department personnel
- Manage service/work order software and provide reports as requested
Areas of Oversight:
- Fleet Maintenance
- Schedule regular fleet maintenance to ensure operational efficiency of all units
- Direct fleet maintenance and repair activities using internal labor as well as third-party vendors.
- Schedule, inspect, and monitor work being performed both internally and externally to manage the cost-effectiveness and timeliness of all repairs.
- Generate and communicate all Work Orders needed for the Fleet. Communicate Work Orders to both internal and external parties.
Request and/or Approve purchase requisitions for all materials and parts needed for Fleet maintenance and repairs
Miscellaneous
- Support the D'Lo and Pelahatchie work order repairs and other department heads as required
- Facilitate weekly DTI service department meetings
- Perform general maintenance of machinery used in the warehouse
- Inspect the condition of tools and equipment
- Continuously search for opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency within the department
Essential Skills and Experience:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, email/scheduling software
- Ability to understand spoken/written English as well as write legibly
- 8+ years' experience in Maintenance of Class 8 and below tractors, tankers, trailers and equipment.

- Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement

Location and Hours:
This position is based out of the D'Lo truck shop, with travel to central MS locations and other areas as necessary. It is the responsibility of the DTI service manager to ensure the truck shop is open Monday/Friday from 6am to 5pm, with an on-call rotation for holidays and weekends. Out-of-town & overnight travel may be required on occasion.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Lifts/carries 50 pounds occasionally, pushing/pulling a maximum force of 75 pounds; Safe Lifting criteria, floor to knuckle 50 pounds, shoulder to overhead 30 pounds
- Expose occasionally to fumes or airborne particles
- Exposure to extreme cold or heat.
- Able to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, and decimals.
- Constant state of alertness and ability to perform in a safe manner.
