Position Summary

The Clinical Educator plays a critical role in advancing nursing excellence by designing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education programs that enhance competency, confidence, and professional growth. This position serves as the lead clinical facilitator for nursing onboarding and orientation, while acting as an ongoing clinical resource to support best practices, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate is an experienced pediatric or behavioral health RN with a passion for education, mentorship, and workforce development.

Key Responsibilities Assessment of Learning Needs
  • Conduct comprehensive learning needs assessments to identify gaps in clinical knowledge, skills, and practice.

  • Align educational initiatives with organizational priorities, patient care needs, and performance outcomes.

Curriculum Development & Implementation
  • Design, develop, and deliver evidence-based education using adult learning principles and varied teaching strategies.

  • Ensure educational content aligns with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and hospital policies.

  • Implement education programs in a timely, professional manner and document learning outcomes and effectiveness.

Clinical Facilitator – Onboarding & Orientation
  • Serve as the lead clinical educator for nursing onboarding and orientation.

  • Provide structured, hands-on education to new hires related to clinical skills, workflows, policies, and expectations.

  • Partner with nursing leadership to support retention, engagement, and clinical readiness.

  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure completion of facility orientation requirements.

Teaching, Mentorship & Clinical Support
  • Provide direct instruction, coaching, and mentorship to nursing staff in clinical environments.

  • Promote critical thinking, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice.

  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff facing complex patient care or decision-making challenges.

Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of education programs using feedback, competency data, and clinical outcomes.

  • Modify and improve educational initiatives based on performance metrics and emerging needs.

Professional Development & Continuing Education
  • Support nursing staff in meeting continuing education requirements and professional certification goals.

  • Promote lifelong learning and professional growth across the nursing workforce.

Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance
  • Ensure education programs meet requirements set by regulatory and accrediting bodies.

  • Maintain alignment between education initiatives, hospital policies, and standards of care.

Collaboration & Evidence-Based Practice
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, allied health professionals, and leadership.

  • Stay current on trends, evidence, and innovations in nursing education and clinical practice.

  • Integrate evidence-based practice into educational programming to improve patient outcomes.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related field – Preferred

Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience

  • Prior experience in clinical education, staff development, or training – Preferred

Licensure & Certifications
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas

  • BLS and ACLS – Required

  • PALS – Preferred

  • Board Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) – Preferred

  • Behavioral management and de-escalation training as required by the facility

Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to assess competency and evaluate educational outcomes

  • Proficiency with learning management systems and educational technology

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
