Overview
The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the aquatics department, ensuring high-quality aquatic programs, effective staff supervision, budget management, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. This leadership role requires a proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on maintaining continuous improvement in all areas of aquatics and programming.

Responsibilities:

Aquatics Program Management

  • Oversee aquatic programs (swim lessons, water fitness, etc.), ensuring quality, safety, and YMCA standards.
  • Regularly assess and improve facilities, equipment, and staffing.
  • Promote programs to increase participation and ensure a safe, clean, environment for all participants.
  • Track and report program performance for continuous improvement.

Staff Management & Training

  • Recruit, train, and supervise aquatic staff, ensuring compliance with YMCA policies and safety standards.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain a training calendar to ensure staff certifications and professional growth.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage the aquatics department budget.
  • Monitor expenses and inventory to support program needs.

Community Engagement & Promotion

  • Promote Aquatic programs through marketing efforts and community outreach.
  • Build relationships with local organizations and schools to expand program participation.
  • Support YMCA fundraising initiatives and community engagement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in aquatics programming, swim lessons, and management of aquatics operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising indoor and outdoor pool facilities.
  • A degree in a related field (e.g., Recreation, Sports Management, etc.) or equivalent field experience.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, and Lifeguarding Certified (or willingness to obtain).
  • Lifeguard Instructor Certification (not required but preferred)
  • Certified Pool Operator (not required but preferred)

Expectations:

  • Regularly engage with members to ensure satisfaction, answer questions, and provide feedback on aquatic programs.
  • Spend time in the pool area, leading lessons, observing lifeguards, and offering guidance to staff and participants.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, program planning sessions, and other department activities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Promote the YMCA's mission by encouraging a culture of health, safety, and community in all aquatic programs.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism within the aquatic facilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $21.00 per hour
