divh2Network Technician/h2pWaste Connections is growing and adding a Network Technician to our Corporate Offices in The Woodlands, Texas. The Network Technicians role is to plan and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer, network systems, camera systems, and phone systems throughout the United States and Canada. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. The Network Technician will also troubleshoot network performance issues in a timely and accurate manner and provide end user training where required. The Network Technician will supervise independent contractors hired for special projects. This position travels 20-40% of the time./ppstrongEssential Responsibilities/strong/pulliInstall network, phone and camera systems/liliAssess near and long term network capacity needs and design and implement strategic plans to make certain capacity meets growing demand./liliIn conjunction with other IT employees, create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records./liliDevelop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports./liliOversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades relating to network or telephone equipment./liliDevelop and implement a replacement plan for network infrastructure components at local sites./liliMonitor the work of equipment vendors during installations and hardware performance issues./liliPerform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions./liliResponsible for assisting with hiring, orientation, training and evaluating of IT support staff relative to duties, work schedules, agency policies, and state policies and procedures./liliMaintain confidentiality of all information./liliAssist other departments in the design and implementation of new technology to streamline operations./liliMeet with new and existing vendors to discuss needs, evaluate proposals, negotiate agreements, and monitor performance and potential cost savings./li/ulpstrongMinimum Requirements/strong/pulliBachelors in Computer Science preferred or 2 years of network experience/liliCCNA preferred/liliAt least 2 years cabling experience./lili2 years experience with Cisco Meraki./liliExperience with LAN, WAN and WLAN design and implementation. Ability to engineer routers, switches, and access points./liliProven analytical and problem solving skills./liliStrong project management skills./liliKnowledge and understanding of, and ability to create and maintain technical documentation./liliAbility to conduct research on networking issues, and products./liliMust be willing and able to run Network cable as required to complete projects/liliAbility to lift 40lb or above, build network cable and climb ladders./liliAbility to adapt to situations, create on the fly solutions to problems./liliGood interpersonal skills; good verbal and written abilities, able to present self in a professional, businesslike manner./liliHighly self-motivated with a keen attention to detail./liliAvailability to work occasional evening and weekend hours, or be called for emergencies./li/ulpWhats In It For You?/ppYou will be joining a team environment and colleagues who embrace a work hard, play harder culture.
