The Core Analytics Team is a centralized function dedicated to providing data-driven insights to drive business and product success. We work closely with our Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to deliver exceptional experiences to our customers while maximizing the value proposition for the business.
Roku is looking for a Research Data Scientist to join the Core Analytics team to support our experimentation platform. This individual will be responsible for helping to scale Roku’s experimentation capabilities, exploring and implementing scalable and robust statistical methods that can be applied to a broad range of experimentation problems. The successful candidate will help build tooling for engineers, product managers, and marketers to self-serve their own experiments and establish experimentation best practices across Roku. This individual will work closely with product management and data engineering, and a software engineer to identify opportunities to create new features, drive their adoption. Roku will be accepting applications for this position until November 27, 2025 [or until the position filled]. This is a hybrid role with four days per week in the office, Monday through Thursday. Own the experimentation roadmap for Core Analytics in partnership with Product and Engineering. Define the standard for statistical analysis across varying types of experiments and units of analysis, ensuring robust results with minimal bias Lead the design, implementation, and analysis of sophisticated A/B tests and experiments, leveraging innovative techniques like Bayesian inference and causal methods to optimize complex strategies Develop necessary data pipelines to power automation, validation, and reporting Collaborate with stakeholders to align data science initiatives with organizational goals and strategy 2+ years of work experience with a PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, etc.)
Deep knowledge of statistics, probability, and machine learning techniques Hands-on experience on experimental design, A/B testing, causal inference, and statistical modeling/forecasting Expertise in SQL, SAS, R, Python, or other programming languages to query data and perform analysis Hands-on experience with visualization tools like Tableau or Looker The ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical business partners alike, who are interested in building strong cross-functional relationships.
