Optician/ optical tech

Overview

As an optician and tech you will play a crucial role in assisting patients with their eyewear needs, managing medical records, running preliminary testing, and ensuring compliance with HIPPA regulations . This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self motivated

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions and personal style preferences.
• Conduct fittings for eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure proper alignment and comfort.
• Maintain accurate medical records and patient information using electronic health record systems such as Revolution
• Provide education to patients regarding proper eyewear care and usage.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Manage inventory of optical products, including lenses, frames, contact lenses and accessories.
• Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear fashion and technology to provide informed recommendations to patients.
• Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques during all procedures and interactions.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of optical principles and practices.
• Experience in retail management and retail sales within an optical setting is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with anatomy related to vision care is essential.
• Proficiency in managing medical records, including understanding medical coding practices.
• Previous experience in a clinic or ophthalmology setting is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
