Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Sous Chef/kitchen manager to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining exceptional standards of food safety and service. This position requires strong leadership skills, culinary expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to enhance their skills.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu planning and recipe development.
  • Manage food preparation processes, ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes.
  • Monitor inventory levels, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling practices.
  • Coordinate catering services for special events and banquets.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas.
  • Assist with shift management to ensure adequate staffing during peak hours.
  • Foster a positive team environment that encourages collaboration and creativity.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a culinary role, preferably as a Sous Chef or similar position within fine dining or high-volume establishments.
  • Strong background in food production, menu planning, and kitchen management.
  • Experience in supervising staff and managing a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices and food service management principles.
  • Familiarity with dietary department operations is a plus.
  • Excellent cooking skills with an understanding of various cuisines and techniques.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience in catering or banquet services is highly desirable.
