Role: Principal System Safety Engineer
Client: Defense-Aerospace
Pay Rate: up to $100/hr (W2, non-benefited)
Length: 1-year contract
Location: Tucson, AZ
Clearance: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire
Description:
- Performing System Safety Program, Hazard analyses or Design analyses
- Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
- Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
- Leading one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
- Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or customer's approved equivalent
- Coordinating with customer safety representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities
- Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
- Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience with: System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Experience in command and control systems and/or weapon combat systems
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
- Ability to solve complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel
- Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience. An advanced degree may
