Location: Full-time, on-site role based in London (Spitalfields)
About the Role As a Backend Engineer at nsave, you’ll help design, build, and operate the core systems that power our financial products. You’ll work closely with our CTO, CEO, and engineering team to architect secure, scalable, and highly reliable backend services that support users across multiple regions and regulatory environments.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll own critical infrastructure and backend services end-to-end, balancing rapid iteration with the rigor required in a regulated fintech environment.
Who You Are
Strong backend engineer:
Comfortable designing and building scalable, reliable backend services and APIs.
Tech-savvy:
Proficient in TypeScript and NestJS (Node.js).
Database and systems fluent:
Experienced with relational databases (Postgres) and performance-sensitive systems.
Cloud and infrastructure aware:
Knowledgeable about AWS (ECS, RDS/Postgres), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
Messaging and integrations focused:
Familiar with event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Kafka.
Security-conscious:
Brings a security-first mindset and understands the demands of financial-grade systems.
Collaborative and product-minded:
Works closely with product and engineering peers to build systems that enable great user experiences.
Curious and mission-driven:
Motivated to solve real problems for people in financially unstable environments.
How You’ll Make a Difference
Build core backend systems:
Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, secure backend services and infrastructure.
Power our financial platform:
Own services supporting authentication, transactions, compliance, and banking integrations.
Ensure reliability and scalability:
Build systems that are low-latency, high-throughput, and resilient under real-world conditions.
Improve system health:
Proactively identify weaknesses in code and infrastructure and deliver improvements to reliability, security, and compliance.
Balance speed with rigor:
Move quickly while maintaining the standards required for a regulated fintech environment.
Elevate engineering standards:
Champion best practices in testing, observability, deployment, and operational excellence.
Collaborate across teams:
Work closely with product, design, and operations to translate user needs into robust technical solutions.
