Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer (Senior) will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical processes and systems for our innovative miniMBR technology.

Reports to: Director of Engineering

Location: Owings Mills, MD

Hours: Full time, Salaried Position

Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 per year

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components for biological wastewater treatment facilities utilizing MBR technology, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, controls engineers, process engineers, technicians, and designers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into project designs.
  • Conduct thorough analyses and evaluations of existing equipment and systems, identifying areas for improvement and proposing cost-effective solutions.
  • Perform detailed design calculations, feasibility studies, and simulations to validate system performance and optimize overall efficiency.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Prepare mechanical submittals.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and field service teams to ensure smooth execution of mechanical designs and troubleshoot any issues during the manufacturing process.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, regulations, and advancements in wastewater treatment technologies, specifically related to membrane bioreactor technology.
  • Participate in field visits, providing technical support and guidance to installation, commissioning, and maintenance teams.
  • Supervise designers
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Skills

  • Strong knowledge of equipment, hydraulics, piping systems, electromechanical systems, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with membrane bioreactor technology, wastewater treatment processes, and automated control systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in using SolidWorks 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for mechanical design and drafting. AutoCAD or equivalent 2D proficiency is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to apply theoretical concepts to practical design challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical information.
  • Self-starter; Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proven 5+ years of experience in process equipment manufacturing or mechanical design.
