The Lead Capital Analyst serves as the analytical engine behind The Heritage Group's ("THG") capital strategy, developing models and insights that inform investment, funding, and portfolio decisions. Sitting within Corporate Finance, the role builds and enhances financial frameworks that quantify value, risk, and liquidity tradeoffs. The role partners closely with FP&A, M&A, and operating company teams to drive disciplined, data-informed capital allocation across THG.

***This position is a hybrid role (3 days in office) based on-site in Indianapolis, IN. Qualified candidates must currently reside or be willing to relocate within 75-miles of Indianapolis, IN.***

Essential Functions

Build and Maintain Dynamic Financial Models
  • Enhance THG's proprietary capital allocation and forecasting models.
  • Develop scenario-based cash flow models and capital evaluation tools.
  • Track performance metrics and build visualizations that clarify value, risk, and tradeoffs.
  • Ensure consistency and traceability across enterprise-level capital models.
Provide Insights on Capital Efficiency
  • Analyze capital efficiency using risk-adjusted return on capital and related performance metrics.
  • Maintain WACC benchmarks and assess investment returns to support capital deployment decisions.
Support Liquidity and Balance Sheet Planning
  • Collaborate with FP&A to update enterprise liquidity and balance sheet forecasts.
  • Evaluate capital availability to inform investment pacing and credit facility utilization.
  • Contribute analysis and participate directly in capital structure and financing strategy discussions.
Cross-functional Collaboration and Development
  • Build strong partnerships with finance leaders and operating company stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Corporate Finance's development as a center of analytical excellence.
  • Support team capability-building and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Prepare concise summaries and visualizations for presentations to THG leadership and the Board.
  • Provide limited analytical support for valuation work and integrate outputs into planning tools
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree or Master's in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics or related field

Experience Qualifications

  • Required minimum 5 years experience in roles requiring complex and dynamic financial modeling
  • Required proficiency in financial statement analysis and knowledgeable in corporate finance and portfolio theory

Skills and Abilities

Critical skills
  • Quantitatively oriented and enjoy creative, complex financial modeling
  • Strong command of Excel and financial modeling; familiarity with Power BI or Python preferred
  • Adaptable to situations in which there might be disparate sources of imperfect information
  • Strong project management skills with ability to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Extremely resourceful, organized and detail-oriented
Communication
  • Ability to synthesize information into strategic insights, especially in written format
  • Comfortable verbally communicating your point of view and considering the input of others
  • Proactively communicates with all key stakeholders to clearly set expectations
  • Track record of building strong working relationships across all levels of an organization
