General Purpose Of The Job
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting the organization. As a generalist, this position performs activities in the multiple HR functional areas, including but not limited to: benefits, employee relations, training, DOT compliance, performance management, on-boarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, employment law compliance, leaves of absence, generating official internal documents and performs other related duties as required and assigned. This position will review/monitor all paperwork to ensure completeness, accuracy and confidentiality, follow up on questions and assist company managers as needed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing detailed description of tasks. Required updates regularly to HR Matrix. This means writing and completing SOPs using the SOP template for each daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual tasks assigned to you so you will manage your time with maximum efficiency.
- Organization skills and efficient time management is a strict requirement. Utilize the tools provided including but not limited to, calendar your tasks, keep the HR Huddle Agenda up to date, set alerts (bell) in Smartsheet (SST). Part of calendaring includes time blocking accountability for yourself to manage your daily, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual tasks.
- Meeting with supervisor and team to ensure all tasks are being handled correctly with excellent communication on status of assignments. One-on-one meetings with your management team on a regular basis.
- Receives, prepares, handles and stores highly confidential information.
- Generates official internal documents such as offer letters, employment verifications, job descriptions, etc.
- Prepare/maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, terminations, investigations, leaves of absence, transfers, or promotions using human resources management system software.
- Interpret, explain and enforce human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and/or regulations.
- Maintain compliance with federal, various states and local laws and regulations. Recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Provide support and give guidance to management, and other staff members, when complex, specialized and sensitive questions and/or issues arise.

- Address employee relations issues and conduct investigations (i.e., harassment allegations, work complaints, and other employee concerns.)
- Maintain current knowledge, manage and monitor the company's affirmative action and equal employment programs in compliance with government legislation and management directives.
- Work with management to develop and/or implement personnel policies or procedures.
- Manage the overall recruiting, interviewing, selection and placement process to ensure that properly qualified applicants are hired for open positions. Refer to applicants to the hiring manager and provide hiring recommendations as appropriate.
- Conduct exit interviews and ensure that all necessary termination paperwork is accurately completed.
- Provide management staff information and/or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques and documentation of performance issues.
- Complete Farm Labor Contractor Certificate of Registration with DOT/Driving authorizations process (with all applicable States)
- Complete Cal-Van process.
- Maintain Lytx DriverCam/Samsara GPS safety program during hours of operations.
- Have and maintain basic knowledge of DOT/transportation laws and regulations.
- Complete initial/renewal FLC/Business license process.
- Track and process progressive disciplinary actions.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) and must be able to read and write Spanish.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year College or university in Human Resources or related field; or 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a current driver's license.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Publisher, and related tools).
- Demonstrated working knowledge of general office equipment and technology.
- Social media–savvy, with the ability to navigate and manage common digital platforms as needed.
- Ability to travel to the Company's areas of operation, including overnight travel, as business needs require (approximately 20%–30% travel).
- Knowledge of the CHP inspection process and related compliance requirements is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment will have moderate noise when working in an office environment.
