The purpose of this classification is to perform general irrigation maintenance and skilled tasks within the golf maintenance operations.
Essential FunctionsThe following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. The omission of specific statements of the duties or functions does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Monitor, operate, and maintain the Toro Lynx two-wire irrigation system to ensure optimal performance.
Inspect irrigation heads daily for proper coverage and efficiency; adjust, repair, or replace components as needed.
Perform daily pump station inspections and accurately record output readings.
Maintain detailed records including pump station data, well readings, rainfall reports, and preventative maintenance logs.
Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to diagnose and repair irrigation system issues, including pipes, valves, wiring, and heads.
Install and repair irrigation pipes, heads, valves, and electrical wiring.
Troubleshoot and resolve irrigation system malfunctions in a timely manner.
Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance of pump stations and irrigation infrastructure.
Operate light motorized and mechanical equipment, including trenchers and related tools.
Follow all City safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Perform related work as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent AND minimum of three (3) years of experience as an irrigation technician on a golf course.
Must possess ( or obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire) and maintain
a valid Florida Driver's License.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to irrigation systems.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work early mornings, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor conditions.
PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Physical Ability: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, twist, dig, and perform repetitive physical task. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Sensory Requirements: Tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as odors, wetness, humidity, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease, or pathogenic substances. Work is frequently performed outside in heat, high humidity, in cold, in rain and when other inclement weather conditions are present. Work is performed in bright and dim light.
