Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing menu items with creativity and precision, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to foster a collaborative and efficient work atmosphere.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring adherence to safety and hygiene regulations while maintaining exceptional food handling practices.
- Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular checks, and assisting with ordering supplies as needed.
- Engage in menu planning, incorporating seasonal ingredients and dietary considerations to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food safety protocols, and kitchen operations to maintain a skilled workforce.
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service and address any guest inquiries regarding menu offerings.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work culture aligned with Flour's core values.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the culinary industry, particularly in fine dining settings.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising kitchen teams and managing shifts effectively.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food production techniques, catering services, and restaurant management practices.
- Familiarity with dietary department operations and menu planning that accommodates various dietary restrictions is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate teamwork between kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel.
- A solid understanding of inventory management processes, including stock rotation and waste reduction strategies.
- Passion for cooking with an emphasis on creativity, quality ingredients, and presentation excellence.
