Training Technologies and Support, Inc. is interviewing for a Janitor to support the Veterans Affairs Medical Facilities in Aurora, CO.

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the medical center and ensuring the proper cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of the facility. The ideal candidate will have experience as a floor tech and a strong understanding of janitorial requirements in a medical facility. Some shifts begin as early as 6am, while other shifts end as late as 11:30pm. Holiday and weekend work may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal in outpatient areas, restrooms, dining areas, administrative areas, hallways, and other common areas.
  • Replenish supplies such as soap, sanitizer, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
  • Follow detailed cleaning schedules to ensure high-traffic and critical areas are sanitized frequently.
  • Adhere to OSHA safety and CDC infection prevention and control guidelines.
  • Use proper cleaning agents and methods for surfaces, equipment, and environments as specified by medical center protocols.
  • Follow personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols at all times.
  • Coordinate with hospital staff to ensure cleaning tasks are completed without disrupting patient care.
  • Communicate any issues, hazards, or special cleaning requests to the supervisor promptly.
  • Operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers and vacuums safely and effectively.
  • Handle and dispose of biohazardous and medical waste following hospital and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain an organized janitorial supply area and ensure adequate stock of cleaning materials.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Able to pass a background check in order to gain access to federal government facilities.
  • Prior experience in janitorial services, especially in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Most possess an understanding of infection control standards and proper cleaning methods.
  • Must have the ability to follow detailed instructions and cleaning protocols.
  • Must possess the basic mechanical skills needed for handling and maintaining cleaning equipment.
  • Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to maintain professionalism in a medical facility.
  • Ability to implement and follow all federal and building health and safety policies.
  • Ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, reaching, climbing, and balancing for extended periods, consistent with janitorial duties.
  • Able to work in a healthcare environment that requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, and safety goggles.
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills required to complete timecard and perform other administrative tasks through our payroll system.
  • Demonstrate flexibility required to react to changes and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner.

Term of Employment: At will.
