Role Overview
We are seeking experienced
Network Operations Engineers
to support
wireline and cable telecommunications networks
in a live production environment. This role focuses on monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining fixed-line access and transport networks to ensure high availability and service quality for broadband, voice, and video services.
The position sits within a
Network Operations / NOC / Service Assurance
team and supports business-critical customer-facing services.
This position can also be open to candidates based in St. Louis, Missouri and in Denver, Colorado.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and operate wireline and cable network infrastructure in a 24x7 environment
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents impacting customer services
- Perform Tier 1 / Tier 2 operational support and escalate complex issues as needed
- Analyze alarms, logs, and performance metrics to identify root cause
- Support planned maintenance, network changes, and service activations
- Coordinate with engineering, field teams, and vendors
- Document incidents and resolutions in ticketing systems
- Participate in on-call or shift rotations as required
Required Technical Experience
Wireline & Cable Technologies (experience with some):
- Fiber networks (FTTH / FTTP), Metro Ethernet, DWDM
- Copper access (ADSL / VDSL)
- Cable / HFC networks (DOCSIS 3.0 / 3.1, CMTS / CCAP)
Networking & Operations:
- IP networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
- Network performance concepts (latency, packet loss, QoS)
- SNMP-based monitoring and fault management
- CLI troubleshooting on network devices
Tools:
- Network monitoring / NMS tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, or carrier tools)
- Ticketing systems (ServiceNow or similar)
Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years in
Network Operations, NOC, or Telecom Operations - Hands-on experience in
ISP, cable provider, or telecom carrier environments - Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills
- Ability to work shifts and/or on-call schedules
- Clear communication and documentation skills
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting large-scale or national networks
- Exposure to network automation or SRE practices
- Certifications such as CCNA / CCNP or vendor-specific cable certifications
